【News】 HAL for Medical Use becomes the winner of the JSPMI Prize (Small and Medium Enterprise Agency Director’s-General Prize)
~Highly rated as a new medical device being put into practical use before the rest of the world~

An innovative robotic treatment device, HAL for Medical Use Lower Limb Type (the “Medical HAL”)*, a device researched, developed, manufactured and distributed by CYBERDYNE, INC. (the “Company”) was selected as the winner of the 14th Small and Medium Enterprise Agency Director’s-General Prize in the Japan Society for the Promotion of Machine Industry (“JSPMI”) Prizes. The presentation ceremony will take place on February 21, 2017. 

JSPMI prizes are awarded to organizations or R&D persons, for excellent achievements in manufacturing of new products improvement of quality or performance of products or rationalization of production through research, development or actual implementation of original, innovative and economical technology related to machine industries. The Medical HAL developed by the Company was chosen as the winner of the 14th Small and Medium Enterprise Agency Director’s-General Prize in the JSPMI prize for its excellent achievements set forth below. 

Medical HAL obtained manufacturing and distribution approval and certification as a medical device in Japan and Europe as of December 2016 and the device is now covered by workers’ compensation insurance in Germany and public health insurance in Japan. Furthermore, the company has also applied for public medical insurance coverage of the treatment with the device in Germany and medical device approval in U.S. As such is the case, the Medical HAL has won this award, as it was highly rated as a new medical device being put into practical use before the rest of the world.

The Company will continue to accelerate its researches, developments and implementation of innovative Cybernics technologies including the Medical HAL, in order to achieve the Zero Intensive Nursing-care Society.
