【News】Ceremony to celebrate the completion of the Next-Generation Multipurpose Robotized Production Facility in the Fukushima Prefecture ~ Journey to develop innovative production technology surpassing the fourth industrial revolution “Industry 4.0”~

The Construction for the next-generation multipurpose robotized production facility (the “Facility”) that has been in the works for CYBERDYNE, INC. (the “Company”) is now complete, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Monday, August 22, 2016. Guests in attendance included the Governor of Fukushima Prefecture, the Mayor of Koriyama City, the Director of the Medical and Assistive Device Industries Office of the Ministry of Economics, Trade, and Industry, and many others.

Unlike other automated factories, this next-generation Facility utilizes robots that have incorporated the skills of experienced skilled workers using Cybernics technology. These robots will work together with their human counterparts to efficiently produce more robots and devices, and the Company will introduce equipment and state-of-the-art technology into the Facility in order to start its full-scale operations at the earliest opportunity. Furthermore, along with the increased implementation of HAL for Medical Use (Lower Limb Type) in medical facilities across Japan and the development of new products in its line-up, the Company will look to expand this Facility based on the progress of the Company’s business performance and the state of the Facility’s operations.

As Fukushima Prefecture has one of the largest medical industrial zones in the country, the Company plans to utilize this Facility as a base to further develop the medical device industry and robotic technologies in manufacturing, thus contributing to the restoration and regeneration of the Fukushima area. The Company plans to distribute innovative products that utilize Cybernic technology, such as the cyborg-type robot HAL®, a palm-sized electrocardiograph and arteriosclerosis meter, other vital sensing systems, and so on, from the Facility to the rest of the world.
