Message from the CEO

Founded in June 2004 as a university-originated venture, CYBERDYNE was established to address the wide-ranging social challenges posed by a super-aging society through Cybernics, a pioneering field that fuses humans, AI, robotics, and information systems. In 2014, we achieved a significant milestone by listing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. Cybernics is an innovative technological domain built upon the fusion of humans, AI, robotics, and information systems that continuously adapts to people, patients, and their environments. It also encompasses the emerging field of Physical AI, which has recently attracted growing global attention.
Since our public listing, we have focused on the first stage of our growth by establishing a solid business foundation centered on the world’s first wearable cyborg, HAL (Hybrid Assistive Limb). Through extensive research and development, clinical studies, regulatory approvals, insurance reimbursement, and international expansion, we have successfully advanced HAL from concept to practical implementation. Today, our medical technologies have obtained approvals and certifications in more than 20 countries, and our Cybernics-based healthcare platform continues to expand globally.
Alongside these achievements, we have made substantial progress in developing a broad range of Cybernics technologies that fuse bio/medical sciences with AI, robotics, and information technologies. The key components of the business ecosystem we have envisioned are steadily coming together. From the acquisition of human and environmental data to data integration, AI-driven analytics, autonomous and remote control technologies, and cloud connectivity, we are establishing the technological foundation necessary to seamlessly fuse people with cyber-physical spaces.
Building on this foundation, we are now transitioning from the first stage of business foundation development into the second stage of growth. This new phase is centered on HCPS Cybernics with Physical AI and aims to create a new social infrastructure that supports both people and society.
Our global expansion is also accelerating. Major initiatives include the establishment of one of the world’s largest national Neuro-Robotics and Cybernics Rehabilitation Centers by the Government of Malaysia, collaborations with National Taiwan University and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, and strategic partnerships with Carnegie Mellon University and leading medical, industrial, and innovation organizations in the Pittsburgh region. These initiatives are strengthening a global network that connects Asia, the United States, and Europe. Furthermore, through collaboration with Silicon Valley-based innovation networks, we are accelerating the creation of new businesses and expanding our global presence.
Looking ahead, we regard the coming years as the full-scale deployment phase of our second stage of growth. We will continue to accelerate the real-world implementation and business expansion of HCPS Cybernics with Physical AI, while preparing growth strategies that encompass participation in global capital markets. By implementing Cybernics as a new social infrastructure worldwide, contributing to the resolution of societal challenges, and creating an entirely new industry—the Cybernics Industry—we aspire to achieve further growth as a global enterprise that contributes to the future well-being of humanity and society.
