Kawasaki City proposed a project that included CYBERDYNE Inc. for accelerating practical application of newly developed medical devices through deregulation
~ Conference of Members of Tokyo National Strategic Zone ~ 

On October 1, 2014, a conference of members of Tokyo National Strategic Zone, was held. Participants were the national and municipal governments and involved enterprises. In the conference, the City of Kawasaki (“Kawasaki” or “the City”) who was designated as a member municipality of Tokyo National Strategic Zone proposed to carry out preferential measures for medical devices in the strategic zone in terms of regulations for medical devices. Among the proposals, the following ones are related to CYBERDYNE Inc. (“the Company”):

1) Kawasaki City’s proposals for deregulations

Based on the idea that, through deregulation, enterprise-initiated creation of new markets and new industrial fields should be attempted, the City proposed the following measures to expedite commercial application of pharmaceuticals, medical devices and regenerative medicines.

• to speed up examination by early establishment of professional evaluation systems for advanced medicine such as regenerative medical engineering

• introduction of a fast-track certification systems to Japan in order to shorten periods for certification under Japanese Pharmaceutical Affairs Law (“PAL”)

2) major projects to be propelled by deregulation

Taking the advantage of proposed deregulation matters, early practical application of the world’s most advanced pharmaceuticals, medical devices and regenerative medicines from Japan should be attempted in the following center project

• practical application of medical devices developed with robot technologies (by CYBERDYNE Inc. St. Marianna University School of Medicine and so on)
